With Dang Gui, reduces obstruction and toxicity for swollen, painful sores and necrosis of surrounding tissue.
Rx. Scrophulariae Xuan Shen 20-90g Clears Heat, cools the Blood, nourishes Yin, drains Fire and relieves toxicity.
With Jin Yin Hua and Gan Cao, for boils, carbuncles and furuncles.
Rx. Angelicae Sinensis Dang Gui 10-90g Nourishes, invigorates and harmonizes Blood, reduces swelling, expels pus, generates flesh and alleviates pain.
Rx. Glycyrrhizae Gan Cao 5-90g Clears Heat, relieves Fire toxicity, alleviates pain and moderates and harmonizes the properties of other herbs.
With Jin Yin Hua, for Damp rashes or acne.

CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS

  • Ulcerated sores that do not heal on a limb that is dark red
  • Slightly swollen and warm to the touch
  • There may me a rotten smell to the lesion
  • Gangrene of the extremities, especially the fingers and toes with purulent abscess
  • Extreme pain
  • Local inflammation and swelling
  • There may be copious discharge of pus from the ulcers
  • A burning sensation
  • Fever
  • Thirst

CONTRAINDICATIONS
  • Contraindicated for those with Cold, Qi Deficiency or Blood Deficiency.
  • Avoid scratching the affected area while taking this formula.

  • This condition may be attributed to long standing Kidney Deficiency, Wind-Cold-Damp Bi, overindulgence in rich, greasy or spicy foods or improper use of Yang Tonics. More than one factor is usually involved.
