CONTRAINDICATIONS
  • Contraindicated for those with Yin Deficiency Heat.
  • Contraindicated during pregnancy for those with symptoms of sinking Qi such as a dragging sensation in the abdomen and exhaustion.
  • Do not use in conjunction with herbs that raise Qi such as Rx. Astragali Huang Qi, Rz. Cimicifugae Sheng Ma or Rx. Bupleuri Chai Hu.

  1. It benefits essence and marrow.
  2. It is the primary Kidney Yang tonic for treating the lower body.
  3. It is said to strengthen resolve and expel Damp itching (Damp-Heat) in the genitals.
  4. Du Zhong descends to enter the Kidneys to strengthen Kidney Qi and the sinews and bones. It governs the Qi level of the lower body to tonify the Liver and Kidneys. Niu Xi governs the Blood level of the lower body and travels in the Qi and Blood of the channels and collaterals.
  5. Dry-fried Eucommia Chao Du Zhong directly enters the Kidney channel more strongly tonifies the Liver and Kidneys and is a better anti-hypertensive.
  6. Charred Eucommia Du Zhong Tan is able to stop bleeding and is used for instability of the Chong and Ren channels leading to abnormal uterine bleeding such as long periods or bleeding during pregnancy.
  7. Eucommia Leaf Du Zhong Ye can be used effectively as a substitute for the bark in most of its clinical functions.
