  1. Because this herb is neither cloying nor tends to retain pathogenic influences, it is used in treating patients with Yin Deficient constitution in cases of externally contracted Wind-Heat.
  2. It treats consumptive diseases with Dryness.
  3. Both Yu Zhu and Rx. Glehniae/Adenophorae Sha Shen enter the Lungs and Stomach and both nourish Yin and generate fluids. Yu Zhu has a slower, more harmonious action that requires a higher dosage, while Sha Shen is more cooling.
  4. Both Yu Zhu and Rz. Polygonati Huang Jing nourish the Lungs and Stomach. Yu Zhu more strongly tonifies Stomach Yin, while Huang Jing more strongly tonifies Kidney Yin.
  5. Processed Solomon's Seal Zhi Yu Zhu is able to tonify the Qi of the Middle Jiao. It is appropriate for injured fluids in later stages of warm febrile disease and for consumptive diseases.
  6. Dry-fried Solomon's Seal Chao Yu Zhu nourishes Yin without being cloying, strengthens the Spleen and harmonizes the Stomach.
  7. This herb is emerging as a superlative cardiovascular remedy. It relaxes the nervous and cardiovascular systems.
  8. This herb should be used when Yin Deficiency conditions involve stress, emotional disturbances or spasms of the limbs.
  9. It has a reputation for dissolving cysts, especially when combined with Rx. Rehmanniae Sheng Di Huang or Rx. Rehmanniae Preparata Shu Di Huang.
