Gypsum Fibrosum Shi Gao 15-30g Clears Heat, drains Fire.
With Zhi Mu, clears Heat from the Lungs and Stomach to alleviate irritability, moisten Dryness, and enrich Yin.
(Hb. Dendrobii) (Shi Hu) (15-30g) (May substitute for Shi Gao.)
Rz. Anemarrhenae Zhi Mu 5-18g Clears Heat from the Qi Stage, Lung and Stomach, nourishes Yin, moistens Dryness and generates fluids.
With Shi Gao, clears Heat from the Lungs and Stomach to alleviate irritability, moisten Dryness, and enrich Yin.
Fried Rx. Glycyrrhizae Zhi Gan Cao 2-6g Tonifies the Spleen and augments Qi.and Moderates and harmonizes the properties of other herbs.
With Jing Mi, benefits the Stomach, protects fluids and prevents the extremely cold properties of the other herbs from injuring the Middle Jiao.
(Rx. Glycyrrhizae) (Gan Cao) (2-6g) (May substitute for Zhi Gan Cao for its ability to generate fluids and quench thirst.)
Fr. Oryzae Jing Mi 8-30g Tonifies Yang, tonifies Qi , stops restlessness, generates fluids and stops thirst.
With Zhi Gan Cao, benefits the Stomach, protects fluids, and prevents the extremely cold properties of the other herbs from injuring the Middle Jiao.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
  • Contraindicated for those with fever due to Spleen and Stomach Yin Deficiency manifesting as fever, spontaneous sweat, extreme fatigue, aversion to Wind, and a Deficiency floating pulse
  • Contraindicated for those with True Cold and False Heat manifesting fever with a desire for warmth, no desire to drink, agitated movements of the limbs in an otherwise subdued patient and flooding, weak pulse.
  • Contraindicated for those with Yang Ming Fu.
  • Use caution for those with a floating, wiry and thin pulse.
  • Use caution for those with a submerged pulse.
  • Use caution for those with absence of thirst.
  • Use caution for those with absence of sweating.
