Cornu Rhinoceri Xi Jiao 1-6g Clears Heart Fire, clears Heat from the Ying Stage, cools the Blood and relieves Fire toxicity, calms Shen, stops bleeding and stops spasms.
 With Sheng Di Huang, Mu Dan Pi and Chi Shao, for loss of consciousness and delirium with epistaxis, hematemesis or purpura due to Blood Heat.
(Cornu Bubali) (Shui Niu Jiao) (10-120g) (Substitutes for Xi Jiao).
Rx. Rehmanniae Sheng Di Huang 8-30g Cools the Blood, stops bleeding, nourishes the Yin and Blood, clears Heat, generates fluids and cools Heart Fire.
With Mu Dan Pi, cools Blood, drains Heat, invigorates the Blood and disperses Stasis.
With Xi Jiao, Mu Dan Pi and Chi Shao, for toxic Heat in the Blood.
Rx. Paeoniae Rubrae Chi Shao 3-15g Clears Heat, cools and activates the Blood and dispels Blood Stasis.
Cx. Moutan Mu Dan Pi 2-12g Clears Heat, cools the Blood, clears Deficiency Fire, activates Blood and dispels Blood Stasis.
 With Chi Shao, cools Blood, drains Heat, invigorates the Blood and disperses Stasis for purpuric rash, hematemesis and Heat injuring the Ying and Xue levels.
