  • This herb significantly counteracts cycloheximide-induced amnesia. Its effects are amplified by treatment with serotonergic receptor antagonists and reduced by serotonergic agonists, GAB(A) and cholinergic receptor antagonists.

  6. This herb inhibits the leakage of Lung Qi above and enriches Kidney Yin below, thus effectively treating coughs.

  8. Because it is astringent, it Nourishes the Yin of the five organs.
  9. By nourishing the Kidney and Liver Yin, it strengthens sinews and bones and brightens eyes.
  10. Southern Schisandra Nan Wu Wei Zi does not tonify, gut regulates Qi, transforms Dampness and reduces Phlegm and is useful for Externally contracted Cold and wheezing due to Phlegm
  11. Dry-fried Schisandra Chao Wu Wei Zi, has enhanced ability to enrich Kidneys and tonify Deficiency and is used in treatment of Spleen and Kidney Deficiencies with daybreak diarrhea.

  17. Both Wu Wei Zi and Fr. Mume Wu Mei astringe the Lungs, generate fluids and bind up the Intestines. Wu Wei Zi more powerfully astringes Lung Qi to stop coughs while at the same time, strengthens Lung Qi, grasps Kidney Qi, astringes Essence and sweat and calms the  Spirit. Wu Mei more strongly generates fluids and alleviates thirst. It also harmonizes the Stomach and eliminates roundworms. It is important in treating irregular uterine bleeding or Hematuria.
