Wine-fried Rx. Scutellariae Jiu Chao Huang Qin 6-15g Clear Lung Heat, drains Fire, dries Dampness, detoxifies and stops bleeding.
 With Jiu Chao Huang Lian, clears and drains toxic Heat from the Upper Jiao.
With Chai Hu for Heat in the Shao Yang.
Wine-fried Rz. Coptidis Jiu Chao Huang Lian 3-15g Drains Fire, relieves toxicity, drains Dampness, clears Heart and Stomach Fire and stops bleeding. It reaches the head and eyes and cools Upper Jiao Fire to treat pain of the eyes, ears, or tongue and mouth ulcers due to pathogenic Fire or Heat.
With Sheng Ma, clear s and drains Heart and Spleen Fire with swelling of the gums, toothache and ulcerations of the mouth and tongue.
With Lian Qiao and Ban Lan Gen, for acute infectious diseases.
With Chai Hu, for Heat in the Shao Yang with alternating chills and fever, and nausea.
With Ban Lan Gen, Bo He and Xuan Shen, for sore throat with lingering Exterior symptoms.
Fr. Arctii Niu Bang Zi 3-10g Disperses Wind-Heat, benefits the throat, clears Heat, relieves toxicity, vents rashes, moistens intestines and normalizes Lung function.
 With Bo He for sores due to Wind-Heat, dry throat, cough with yellow sputum, incomplete expression of measles or pruritic rash.
With Lian Qiao, unblocks and drains Heat toxin, disperses clumps and swellings for sore, swollen throat, swellings like mumps, boils and other Heat toxin lesions and ulcerations and abscesses of the tongue and mouth.
With Lian Qiao, Bo He and Jiang Can, disperses Wind-Heat from the Upper Jiao, head and face.
With Jie Geng and Bo He, for throat inflammation and productive cough due to Wind-Heat.
With Jie Geng and Xuan Shen for pain and swelling of the throat.

Rx. Scrophulariae Xuan Shen 6-10g Clears Heat, cools the blood, nourishes Yin, drains Fire, relieves toxicity, softens hardnesses and dissipates nodules.
 With Sheng Ma, Niu Bang Zi and Jie Geng for swollen, painful throat due to Wind-Heat.
With Ma Bo, clears the upper body, restores normal descent, nourishes Yin and stops pain and treats Wind-Heat obstruction leading to swelling and pain of the throat.
With Jie Geng, Ma Bo and Ban Lan Gen for throat pain, with strong fever and chills and redness, swelling and burning pain of the face.
With Niu Bang Zi and Bo He, for initial stages of Wind-Heat where there are slight signs of toxicity.
With Jie Gen and Gan Cao, for sore throat with Dryness and pain.

With Xuan Shen, for Wind-Heat obstruction leading to swelling and pain of the throat.
Rx. Isatidis Ban Lan Gen 3-12g Drains Heat, relieves Fire toxicity, cools the Blood and benefits the throat.
With Ma Bo, Jie Geng and Xuan Shen, for throat pain as part of a massive febrile disorder of the head with a strong fever and chills, with redness, swelling and burning pain of the face.
With Niu Bang Zi, Lian Qiao and Xuan Shen, for febrile disorders.
Rx. Platycodi Jie Geng 3-9g Opens the Lungs, spreads Lung Qi expels Phlegm, expels pus, benefits the throat and directs the effects of other herbs to the upper body.
With Gan Cao and Jiu Chao Huang Qin, for hoarseness, pain and swelling of the throat due to Wind-Heat.
Rx. Glycyrrhizae Gan Cao 1-6g Stops cough, clears Heat, relieves Fire toxicity, moderates spasms, alleviates pain and moderates and harmonizes the properties of other herbs.
With Jie Geng, for Pain and swelling of the throat.
Per. Citri Reticulatae Chen Pi 3-6g Regulates Qi to prevent accumulation of toxins which reduces swelling.

Rx. Bupleuri Chai Hu 6-9g Resolves Shao Yang disorders, disperses Wind-Heat, reduces fever, spreads Liver Qi, relieves Stagnation, raises Yang Qi, directs the other herbs to the Upper body and resolves Phlegm and congestion.
With Jiu Chao Huang Qin, for Heat in the Shao Yang.
With Sheng Ma, raises the Yang, disperses Wind-Heat, directs the other ingredients to the head, and disperses Stagnation due to Fire.
With Gan Cao for Wind-Heat fever.
Rz. Cimicifugae Sheng Ma 1.5-6g Releases the exterior, vents measles, clears Heat, relieves toxicity, raises Yang, lifts Sunken Qi and guides other herbs upwards.
