Rz. Pinelliae Preparatum Zhi Ban Xia 3-10g Transforms Phlegm, dries Dampness, descends Rebellious Qi and treats nausea and vomiting.
With Chen Pi, for epigastric and abdominal distention or pain due to disharmony of the Stomach Qi.
With Fu Ling, expels Phlegm and stops nausea and vomiting, hiccoughs, coughs with clear, profuse Phlegm and loose and watery stools.
With Tian Ma, Bai Zhu and Fu Ling, for Phlegm-Dampness rising upward and combining with uprising Internal Wind with symptoms of headache, dizziness, focal distention, a stifling sensation in the chest and diaphragm, a greasy white tongue and wiry and slippery pulse.
Rz. Gastrodiae Tian Ma 2-10g Transforms Phlegm, extinguishes Wind, subdues Rising Liver Yang, alleviates pain, disperses Wind-Damp Bi and effectively treats headache, dizziness and vertigo.
With Zhi Ban Xia, Bai Zhu and Chen Pi, for headaches and dizziness from Wind-Phlegm.
With Zhi Ban Xia, Bai Zhu and Fu Ling, for a heavy feeling and a congested headache.
Rz. Atractylodis Macrocephalae Bai Zhu 3-30g Strengthens the Spleen, dries Dampness and reinforces Ban Xia and Tian Ma in treating Phlegm.
With Tian Ma and Fu Ling, for Phlegm due to Spleen Dampness with Internal Liver Wind.
With Fu Ling and Gan Cao, for Spleen and Stomach Qi Deficiencies.
With Zhi Ban Xia, Tian Ma, Fu Ling and Chen Pi, for dizziness and vertigo due to accumulation of Phlegm and Liver Wind.
Exocarpium Citri Rubrum Ju Hong 3-6g Is more drying and aromatic than Chen Pi, but less effective at harmonizing the Middle and regulating the Spleen and Stomach. It is primarily used for vomiting and belching and for treating Phlegm-Damp coughs.

(With Sheng Jiang, for vomiting and hiccups due to Disharmony of the Stomach Qi and Cold-Dampness Obstructing the Middle with nausea and hiccough.

(With Bai Zhu, for anorexia and other symptoms of Damp-Obstruction due to Spleen Deficiency.)

Poriae Fu Ling 3-10g Leaches out Dampness, strengthens the Spleen and assists in Transforming Phlegm.
With Bai Zhu, strengthens the Spleen and resolves Dampness.
With Zhi Ban Xia and Chen Pi, for nausea, vomiting, chest fullness and distention and anorexia due to congested fluids.
With Zhi Ban Xia, Chen Pi and Sheng Jiang, for congested fluids in the Stomach causing nausea and vomiting.
With Bai Zhu and Tian Ma, for Phlegm accumulation with vertigo.
Rx. Glycyrrhizae Gan Cao 1.5-10g Tonifies the Spleen and augments Qi, resolves Phlegm, and moderates and harmonizes the harsh properties of other herbs.
Rz. Zingiberis Recens Sheng Jiang 2-6g Warms the Middle, stops vomiting, warms the Lungs, stops cough and reduces the toxicity of other herbs.
With Da Zao, harmonizes the Spleen and Stomach.
With Zhi Ban Xia, for vomiting due to many causes including Stomach Cold and productive cough due to Phlegm-Dampness.
Fr. Jujube Da Zao 2-6g Tonifies the Spleen and Stomach and augments Qi and moderates and harmonizes the harsh properties of other herbs.
With sheng Jiang, prevents Phlegm accumulation.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
  • Contraindicated for those with vertigo not caused by Wind-Phlegm, eg Liver Yang Rising or Blood Deficiency.
  • Contraindicated for those with Kidney and Liver Yin Deficiencies.
