Rx. Rehmanniae Sheng Di Huang 6-20gs Nourishes Yin, clears Deficiency Heat, cools the Blood and relieves toxicity.
With Xuan Shen, for Excess or Deficiency Heat patterns, late-stage febrile disease with irritability, thirst and constipation and Kidney Yin Deficiency with Fire Blazing with soreness and swelling in the throat, dry mouth and a parched tongue.
With Xuan Shen and Mai Men Dong, for dry throat, irritability, a red tongue, and a fast thready pulse due to Devastated Yin with Blazing Fire, excessive thirst, irritability, and a scarlet tongue due to Ying Stage Heat, swelling of the throat and lymph nodes and constipation due to Excess Heat with Yin Deficiency.
With Bai Shao, for Blood Deficiency Heat.
With Mu Dan Pi, for Ying and Xue Stage Heat with a high fever, scarlet tongue, thirst, a rash all over the body, epistaxis and hemoptysis, residual Warm pathogen which has injured the Yin and Kidney Yin Deficiency with steaming bones.
Rx. Scrophulariae Xuan Shen 4.5-15g Nourishes Yin, clears Deficiency Heat, cools the Blood and relieves toxicity.
With Mu Dan Pi, for erysipelas and purplish rashes.
With Sheng Di Huang, Mai Men Dong and Mu Dan Pi, for diphtheria.
Rx. Ophiopogonis Mai Men Dong 3.6-15g Nourishes Lung Yin, moistens the Lungs, stops cough and resolves Phlegm.
With Xuan Shen and Mu Dan Pi, for those with Yin Deficiency constitution who develop a swollen, painful diphtheria disorder after contracting an epidemic toxin.
With Sheng Di Huang, for Hematemesis or epistaxis due to Yin Deficiency with Excess Heat.
With Sheng Di Huang, Xuan Shen, Mu Dan Pi and Chuan Bei Mu, for sore throat with epistaxis, hematemesis or Blood-streaked sputum and soreness and swelling of the throat due to Yin Deficiency with Excess Heat.
Dry-fried Rx. Paeoniae Alba Chao Bai Shao 2.4-9g Nourishes Blood and preserves and protects Yin.
Cx. Moutan Mu Dan Pi 2.4-9g Cools the Blood, clears Heat and reduces swelling.
Bul. Fritillariae Cirrhosae Chuan Bei Mu 2.4-9g Moistens the Lungs, stops cough, clears Heat and transforms Phlegm.
Hb. Menthae Bo He 1.5-6g Benefits the throat, clears the head and eyes, and expels Wind-Heat.
Rx. Glycyrrhizae Gan Cao 1-6g Relieves toxicity, benefits the throat, stops cough, harmonizes, moistens the Lungs and resolves Phlegm.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
  • Use caution for those with diphtheria.
  • Use with caution for who have loose stools due to Spleen Deficiency.
