Sm. Ginkgo Bai Guo 4.8-10g Astringes the Lungs, stops asthma, stops cough, transforms Phlegm and prevents Ma Huang from causing excessive dispersion and depletion.
With Ma Huang, calms wheezing
With Sang Bai Pi, Xing Ren and Ma Huang for cough and wheezing with excessive yellow sputum due to Lung Deficiency with Hot Phlegm.
Hb. Ephedra Ma Huang 3-10g Releases the exterior, disperses Cold, unblocks and descends Lung Qi, warms and disperses Cold pathogens and stops wheezing.
With Xing Ren for Wind-Cold cough and wheezing with copious sputum due to congested fluids.
Fr. Perillae Zi Su Zi 1-12g Stops cough and wheezing, dissolves Phlegm and descends Lung Qi.
With Zhi Ban Xia and Kuan Dong Hua assists in descending Qi, stopping wheezing, and expelling Phlegm.
with Xing Ren, for cough and wheezing with constipation.
Rx. Glycyrrhizae Gan Cao 0.6-6g Resolves Phlegm, stops cough, clears Heat and moderates and harmonizes the harsh properties of other herbs.
With Ma Huang and Xing Ren, for coughing or wheezing due to Wind-Cold Attacks the Lungs.
Flos Farfare Kuan Dong Hua 3-12g Moistens the Lungs, descends Qi, stops cough and transforms Phlegm.
With Xing Ren for cough and wheezing due to Phlegm obstruction.
Sm. Armeniacae Xing Ren 1.8-12g Stops cough and asthma, resolves Phlegm and assists Ma Huang in arresting wheezing and expanding the Lungs.
With Sang Bai Pi, for productive cough, wheezing and hoarseness due to Lung Heat.
With Ma Huang and Gan Cao, for cough with profuse sputum, nasal obstruction and a hoarse voice.
Cx. Mori Sang Bai Pi 1.8-12g Drains Heat from the Lungs, stops cough and calms wheezing.
With Huang Qin, drains Heat from the Lungs, and stops cough and wheezing.
Rx. Scutellariae Huang Qin 0.6-9g Cleans the Lungs and sedates Heat.
Rz. Pinelliae Preparatum Zhi Ban Xia 3-12g Dries Dampness, transforms Phlegm, and stops cough.
With Huang Qin, for Phlegm-Heat induced Rebellious Qi with cough, nausea, and vomiting.

CONTRAINDICATIONS AND HERB/DRUG INTERACTIONS

CONTRAINDICATIONS
  • Contraindicated for those with Wind-Cold with no sweat and internally contracted Phlegm-Heat.
  • Don't use too long in acute situations.
  • Contraindicated for those with chronic asthma with Qi Deficiency and a frail pulse.
  • Use with caution in early stages of a Wind Invasion showing dyspnea with Anhidrosis.
  • Contraindicated for those with chronic wheezing or cough caused by Lung and Kidney Yin Deficiency.
