POINT: LU-2 (LUNG-2)

  • On the antero-lateral aspect of the chest, below the lateral extremity of the clavicle, 6 cun lateral to the midline, in the center of the hollow of the delto-pectoral triangle.
  • At the inferior margin of the clavicle, between the pectoralis major and deltoid muscles.
  • In the superior lateral part of the anterior thoracic wall, superior to the coracoid process of the scapula, in the depression of the infraclavicular fossa, 6 cun lateral to the anterior midline.
  • Transverse-oblique insertion, 0.5 to 1 cun.
  • Caution: deep perpendicular or oblique insertion carries a substantial risk of causing a pneumothorax.
  • Slanted insertion 0.5 to 1 cun.
  • Puncture obliquely 0.5 to 0.8 cun towards the lateral aspect of the chest. To avoid puncturing the Lung, never needle deeply towards the medial aspect.
  • Moxibustion is applicable.
  • Clears Lung Heat

  • Dispels agitation

  • Interrupted pulse which cannot be felt at the cun position

  • Injury by Cold giving rise to persistent Heat in the limbs
  • Eye problems
  • Intermittent choking or oppression
  • Nervousness
