  • In the hollow between the intertragic notch posteriorly and the condyloid process of the mandible anteriorly. Locate this point with the mouth open.
  • In the depression anterior the intertragic notch of the ear, below SI-19 Tinggong.
  • When the mouth is open, the point lies in a depression anterior to the intertragic notch, directly below SI-19 Tinggong, at the posterior border of the condyloid process of the mandible.
  • Transverse insertion posteriorly0.2 to 0.3 cun, or extend to connect with M-HN-9 Taiyang.
  • Straight insertion with the mouth open, direct the needle slightly backward, 1 to 1.5 cun. Sensation: local distention and soreness.
  • Puncture perpendicularly 0.5 to 0.7 cun.
  • Moxibustion is applicable.
