Rx. and Rz. Rhei Da Huang 2-12g Drains Heat, purges accumulations, drains Fire transforms Dampness, promotes urination, drains Heat from the Blood, invigorates the Blood, dispels Blood Stasis, reduces Fire toxicity and eliminates Phlegm.
Fr. Aurantii Immaturus Zhi Shi 2-15g Dissipates clumps, reduces distention, breaks up and descends stagnant Qi and unblocks bowels.
With Hou Po, assists in moving Qi to expel the stool.
With Da Huang, for Food and/or Qi Stagnation with distention and constipation.
Cx. Magnoliae Hou Po 5-24g Spreads and descends Qi, dries Dampness, transforms Phlegm and relieves fullness.
With Da Huang and Zhi Shi, for constipation due to accumulation and stagnation.

FORMULA ACTIONS

CONTRAINDICATIONS
  • Contraindicated during pregnancy.
  • Only when necessary for weak patients plus tonic herbs.
HERB/DRUG INTERACTIONS
  • This formula has been shown to be effective at relieving constipation and nausea caused by excessive use of opioid analgesics.
