Nausea and vomiting.

 

 

  1. This herb brings Qi down to the lower part of the body for deficient Qi in the lower aspects of the body.
  2. It is used for asthma and coughing due to Wind, Heat, Dryness and Fire.
  3. This is a common herb in cough syrups.
  4. In decoctions it is combined with Yin tonics, Phlegm resolvers and Lung Heat clearing herbs.
  5. Both Pi Pa Ye and Rz. Cynanchi Stauntonii Bai Qian are good at descending rebellious Lung Qi. Pi Pa Ye is cooling and moistening and best for treating dry cough or hard-to-expectorate Phlegm. It also stops nausea. Bai Qian is warming and parching and is best for External Pathogenic Qi which has obstructed the Lungs causing a sensation of fullness in the chest and the sound of Phlegm in the throat.
  6. Both Pi Pa Ye and Rz. Pinelliae Preparata Zhi Ban Xia treat Lung and Stomach conditions. Pi Pa Ye cools the Lungs to stop coughs and transform Phlegm. It is cool and moistening and is used for Phlegm-Heat and cough from Lung Dryness. It cools Stomach Heat, preventing Stomach Qi from being carried upward by Excess Yang. It allows Phlegm to be more easily moved by Zhi Ban Xia. Zhi Ban Xia transforms Dampness and Phlegm and is better for cough with profuse Phlegm from Phlegm-Dampness. It transforms Phlegm and Dampness so that Stomach Qi is free to properly descend, thereby preventing nausea. It is warm and parching and mainly parches Dampness and transforms Phlegm. Together Moistness and Dryness, Cold and Heat are all represented and the ability to descend Qi is considerably strengthened. They are frequently used together to treat cough and wheezing and to alleviate nausea and calm the Stomach.
  7. Raw Loquat Leaf Sheng Pi Pa Ye or Fresh Loquat Leaf Xian Pi Pa Ye is more cooling and is best for cooling Lung and Stomach Heat, while transforming Phlegm and descending rebellious Qi. It is best for treating nausea due to Stomach Heat. It also resolve toxicity and soothes the throat.
  8. Honey-prepared Loquat Leaf Mi Zhi Pi Pa Ye has a stronger Lung-moistening property and is best to treat Lung heat Injuring the Fluids or cough due to Lung Dryness with rebellious Qi.
  9. Ginger-prepared Loquat Leaf Jiang Zhi Pi Pa Ye is warm rather than cool with an enhanced ability to alleviate nausea and is best to treat Cold-type cough or nausea from Stomach Cold.
