  • Contraindicated for those with Spleen and Stomach Deficiency Cold.
  • Contraindicated for those with Kidney Yin Deficiency.
  • Use in smaller dosages or in combination with other anti-parasitics, as large doses may cause nausea and vomiting.

  1. This herb is used externally as a wash for scabies and damp sores.
  2. Some sources say that this herb expels long-term accumulated Phlegm in the Lungs and Stomach.
  3. It should be used only after the pathogenic influence has been substantially reduced or eliminated.
  4. It can be used alone as an enema for chronic dysentery or diarrhea with pus and Blood.
  5. It can be used alone for roundworms.
  6. Chun Pi and Cx. Phellodendri Huang Bai both clear Heat, dry Dampness and treat Damp-Heat vaginal discharge. Huang Bai is very bitter and cold with strong cooling and drying properties to treat a wide variety of syndromes, while Chun Pi restricts, binds and cools the Blood for incessant uterine bleeding, hemafecia and chronic dysentery disorders.
  7. Chun Pi and Per. Granati Shi Liu Pi both bind the Intestines, stop diarrhea and kill parasites and are used Internally and topically. Chun Pi is Cold and treats chronic Damp-Heat diarrhea, possibly including mucus and Blood in the stools. Topically, it is used as a wash or paste to treat dermatological disorders. Shi Liu Pi is Warm and treats chronic diarrhea with rectal prolapse due to Spleen Qi or Yang Deficiency. It is also used topically as a soak or powder.
  8. Dry-fried Ailanthus Bark Chao Chun Pi is less bitter and cold and protects the digestion especially if dry-fried in bran.
  9. Vinegar-prepared Ailanthus Bark Cu Chao Chun Pi stabilizes and binds.
  10. Rx. Ailanthi Chen Gen is the entire root of the plant, while Chun Pi is the bark. Chen Gen is Bitter and Astringent and enters the Stomach channel. It dries Dampness from the Middle Jiao, binds the Intestines to relieve diarrhea, clears Heat to reduce inflammation and swelling and releases the Exterior to promote the eruption of measles. It treats diarrhea, chronic dysentery, hematochezia, profuse menstrual discharge and cancer of the cervix and rectum. It is contraindicated for those with Spleen and Stomach Deficiency Cold. The dosage is 3 to 5g.
