  1. A large dose of this herb can be used for pain associated with malignancies.
  2. This herb is used as an antidote for food poisoning.
  3. This herb is most appropriate for nausea and vomiting from Cold in the Stomach and Intestinal pain.
  4. It can be used alone or combined with other herbs that warm the Stomach and move Qi such as Cx. Magnoliae Officinalis Hou Po, Rx. Aucklandiae Mu Xiang and Rz. Alpiniae Officinarum Gao Liang Jiang.
  5. One source says that it warms the Middle, descends Qi, tonifies the lower back and feet, kills meaty odor, digests food, expels Stomach Cold and treats bulging disorders and ensconced lumps.
  6. Both Bi Ba and Fr. Litseae Bi Cheng Qie warm the Middle and disperse Cold to treat Middle Jiao Deficiency Cold. Bi Cheng Qie is warm, quite acrid, and more powerfully disperses to warm the Spleen and Stomach and eliminate Qi Stagnation. It is best for dispersing Cold, alleviating pain, and descending Qi. It is most appropriate for Qi Stagnation causing chest, epigastric and abdominal pain or for nausea, vomiting and hiccup due to Stomach Cold. Bi Ba is very Hot with a powerful ability to disperse Cold that has sunk deeply into the Middle Jiao and is most appropriate for Deficiency Cold of the Stomach and Intestines causing abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting.
