Rx. Bupleuri Chai Hu 3-18g Disperses Wind-Heat and resolves Phlegm and congestion.
With Gan Cao, for Wind-Heat fever.
Rx. Puerariae Ge Gen 6-20g Discharges Exterior conditions, releases the muscles, especially of the neck and upper back, relieves Heat and generates fluids.
With Chai Hu, for Exterior patterns where the the chills gradually improve while the fever gradually increases along with stiffening of the neck and upper back and absence of sweating
With Chai Hu, Shi Gao and Huang Qin, for Wind-Heat.
Rz. seu Rx. Notopterygii Qiang Huo 3-10g Releases the Exterior, disperses Cold, expels Wind-Cold-Dampness, unblocks painful obstruction, alleviates pain and guides Qi to the Tai Yang and Du channels.
With Bai Zhi, for headaches.
Rx. Angelicae Dahuricae Bai Zhi 3-10g Expels Wind, eliminates Dampness, unblocks the nasal passages, dispels Cold and alleviates pain.
With Ge Gen, for Wind-Cold trapped at the level of the muscles and interstices.
With Huang Qin, for Wind-Heat headache.
Rx. Scutellariae Huang Qin 6-12g Drains Fire, detoxifies, cools the Blood and stops bleeding.
With Qiang Huo, for Cold-Dampness at the Exterior with Heat in the Interior.
Gypsum Fibrosum Shi Gao 4.5-60g Clears Heat in the Qi Stage, drains Fire, relieves irritability, quenches thirst and clears Excess Heat from the Lungs.
With Sheng Jiang, decreases muscular swelling.
Rx. Platycodi Jie Geng 3-10g Opens the Lungs, spreads Lung Qi, expels Phlegm, benefits the throat and opens and raises Lung Qi, directing the effects of other herbs to the upper body.
With Gan Cao, disseminates Lung Qi, expels Phlegm, resolves toxicity, and expels pus for productive cough with hoarseness and pain and swelling of the throat due to Wind-Heat .
Rx. Paeoniae Bai Shao 6-10g Nourishes the Blood, Astringes Yin and adjusts the Ying and Wei.
With Chai Hu, for flank pain due to Liver Qi Stagnation.
Rx. Glycyrrhizae Gan Cao 3-6g Moistens the Lungs, resolves Phlegm, stops cough and moderates and harmonizes the harsh properties of other herbs.
Rz. Zingiberis Recens Sheng Jiang 3-6g Releases the Exterior, induces perspiration, disperses Cold, warms the Lungs, stops cough and reduces the toxicity of other herbs.
With Da Zao, for External Wind-Cold.
Fr. Jujube Da Zao 3-6g Moderates and harmonizes the harsh properties of other herbs.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
  • Contraindicate for those with no Interior Heat.
  • Do not use if the Yang Ming has been already attacked with constipation and abdominal pain.
  • Avoid acrid, oily or spicy foods while taking this formula.
