Rx. Scrophulariae Xuan Shen 30g Clears Heat, cools the Blood, and nourishes Yin.
With Sheng Di Huang, for Excess or Deficiency Heat patterns.
With Sheng Di Huang and Mai Men Dong, for constipation due to Dryness and sore, dry throat due to Deficiency Fire.
Rx. Ophiopogonis Mai Men Dong 24g Moistens the Lungs, nourishes Yin, nourishes Stomach Yin, generates fluids and moistens the Intestines.
With Sheng Di Huang, for hematemesis or epistaxis due to Yin Deficiency with Excess Heat.
Rx. Rehmanniae Sheng Di Huang 24g Clears Heat, cools the Blood, nourishes Yin and generates fluids.
With Da Huang, for Blazing Heart and Stomach Fire with epistaxis, and hemoptysis, Deficiency Fire and parched, dry stools with damaged Yin.
Rx. et Rz. Rhei  Da Huang 9-12g Drains Heat, purges accumulations, drains Fire and drains Heat from the Blood.
With Mai Men Dong, Xuan Shen and Sheng Di Huang, for constipation with Heat consuming Body Fluids.
Natrii Sulfas Mang Xiao 1.5-4.5g Purges accumulations, guides out Stagnation, softens hardness, moistens Dryness, clears Heat and drains Fire.
With Da Huang, for constipation due to Heat in the Stomach and Intestines.

CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS

  • Constipation
  • Dry stools that cannot easily be expelled, even with purgatives
  • Thirst
  • Distention and fullness of the epigastrium and abdomen
  • Dry mouth
  • Dry lips
  • T: Red, dry and thin
  • C: Little or None or thin and yellow or Burnt and yellow
  • P: Thready and slightly rapid or weak and forceless
