With Dang Gui, promotes circulation of Blood and stops pain.
Rz. Cyperi Xiang Fu 15g Spreads and regulates Liver Qi, regulates menstruation and alleviates pain.
With Dang Gui and Chuan Xiong, for irregular menstruation and dysmenorrhea due to Qi and Blood Stasis.
Rz. Chuanxiong Chuan Xiong 8g Invigorates the Blood, promotes the movement of Qi and alleviates pain.
With Xiang Fu, for Qi Stagnation combined with Blood Stasis.
With Dang Gui, harmonizes, nourishes and invigorates the Blood and disperses Blood Stasis for Blood Deficiency causing menstrual problems including dysmenorrhea, scanty menses and amenorrhea.
With Dang Gui, Tao Ren and Hong Hua, for abdominal pain accompanying menstruation.
With Dang Gui, Tao Ren, Bai Shao and Hong Hua, for dysmenorrhea due to Blood Stasis.

With Chuan Xiong, for chest and abdominal pain due to Qi and Blood Stasis.
With Tao Ren, invigorates the Blood for all types of Blood Stagnation such as dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, swollen painful sores and chest and abdominal pain.

Cx. Cinnamomi Rou Gui 3g Disperses deep Cold, warms and unblocks the channels and vessels, assists the generation of Qi and Blood and alleviates pain.
With Dang Gui and Chuan Xiong, for dysmenorrhea, postpartum abdominal pain or amenorrhea due to Deficiency Cold of the Chong and Ren channels.
With Dang Gui, Hong Hua, Ru Xiang and Mo Yao, for feelings of oppression and pain in the abdomen.
Rx. Rehmanniae Preparata Shu Di Huang 16g Nourishes the Blood, Jing and Liver and Kidney Yin and fills the Marrow.
With Dang Gui, for Blood Deficiency marked by dizziness, palpitations, insomnia and menstrual dysfunction.
With Dang Gui, Bai Shao and Chuan Xiong, for anemia.
Rx. Angelicae Sinensis Dang Gui 16g Tonifies, invigorates and harmonizes the Blood, disperses Cold, stops pain due to Blood Stasis and regulates the menses.
With Bai Shao, regulates and harmonizes Qi and Blood.
With Bai Shao, Shu Di Huang and Chuan Xiong, for menstrual irregularity, amenorrhea, and dysmenorrhea due to Blood Deficiency or Blood Stasis.
With Tao Ren and Hong Hua, for amenorrhea, pain, swelling and other symptoms associated with Blood Stasis.
With Shu Di Huang, for Heat symptoms due to Yin Deficiency and Devastated Blood.
With Xiang Fu, tonifies Blood and moves Qi, for premenstrual symptoms, menstrual pain and irregular menstruation.
Rx. Paeoniae Alba Bai Shao 16g Nourishes the Blood, regulates menstruation, softens the Liver and relieves pain.
With Dang Gui, nourishes Yin and Blood.
With Dang Gui and Shu Di Huang, for dizziness, blurred vision, and dysmenorrhea due to Blood Deficiency or Stasis.
Rx. Aucklandiae Mu Xiang 6g Promotes the movement of Qi, dispels Damp-Heat, harmonizes the Liver and Spleen and alleviates pain. (Not included in all versions.)
Rx. Glycyrrhizae Preparata Zhi Gan Cao 3g Moderates and harmonizes the harsh properties of other herbs.
With Bai Shao, moderates spasms and alleviates pain, for painful spasms of the leg or abdomen.

CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS

  • Irregular menstruation
  • Late menstruation
  • Scanty menstruation
  • Distension of the lower abdomen
  • Menstruation with purple blood and clots
  • Pain of the abdomen which is worse upon pressure and diminishes with menstruation
  • Pain is worse with pressure
  • Pain decreases with the passage of clots
  • Swelling and edema of the lower extremities
  • A feeling of oppression in the chest and epigastrium
  • Dry mouth
  • Dark, purplish menses with clots or Dark purple edges
