POINT: ST-14 (STOMACH-14)

  • In the first intercostal space, 4 cun lateral to the anterior midline.
  • On the chest, in the first intercostal space, 4 cun lateral to the midline, REN-20 Huagai, on the mamillary line.
    Note: the intercostal space curves upward, so ST-14 Kufang will lie superior to REN-20 Huagai.
  • Puncture obliquely 0.3 to 0.5 cun.
  • Moxibustion is applicable.
  • Transverse-oblique insertion laterally or medially along the intercostal space 0.3 to 0.5 cun.
  • Transverse insertion superiorly or inferiorly along the channel.
  • Slanted insertion 0.5 to 0.8 cun.
  • Descends rebellious Qi
  • Unbinds the chest
  • A sensation of fullness and pain in the chest
  • Distention and fullness of the chest and lateral costal region
  • Intercostal neuralgia
  • Anorexia
  • Cough
