POINT: PC-3 (PERICARDIUM-3)

  • On the transverse cubital crease, at the ulnar side of the tendon of the m. biceps brachii.
  • With the arm bent slightly at the elbow, this point can be found just medial to the tendon of the biceps muscle at the transverse crease of the elbow.
  • On the transverse cubital crease, in the depression immediately to the ulnar side of the biceps brachii muscle.
    Note: locate this point with the elbow slightly bent.
  • Puncture perpendicularly 0.5 to 0.7 cun or prick to bleed.
  • Straight insertion, 0.5 to 1 cun, causing local distention and soreness and sometimes a numb, sore sensation extending as far as the middle finger.
  • For acute gastritis or enteritis or Heat exhaustion accompanied by high fever, prick to bleed.
  • Perpendicular insertion 0.5 to 1 cun, or prick to bleed.
    Note: needle this point with the elbow slightly bent.
  • Caution: the brachial artery and veins lie deeply, just medial to this point.
