Rx. Sophorae Flavescentis Ku Shen 20g Clears Heat, dries Dampness, disperses Wind, kills parasites and stops itching.
Cx. Phellodendri Huang Bai 15g Drains Damp-Heat especially from the Lower Jiao, drains Fire and relieves Fire toxicity.
Rx. Gentianae Long Dan Cao 15g Drains Damp-Heat from the Liver and Gallbladder channels.
Fr. Kochiae Di Fu Zi 15g Clears Damp-Heat, promotes urination, expels Dampness and stops itching.
With Ku Shen, for skin irritation and itchiness due to Damp-Heat.
Rx. Sanguisorbae Di Yu 15g Cools the Blood, clears Toxic Heat, astringes fluids and generates flesh.
With Huang Bai, as a plaster for eczema and other Damp-Heat skin lesions.
With Ku Shen, as a plaster for burns and other Damp-Heat skin lesions such as eczema.

CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS

  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Vesicles
  • Weeping
  • Crusting
  • Scaling
  • Itching
  • Lesions appear abruptly on the interior aspects of the four extremities (cubital and popliteal creases)
  • They may affect the face and neck
  • They can appear on the dorsal aspect of the hands and feet and scrotum
  • There is erythema
  • They may appear as bright red and swollen plaques with papules or pustules, vesicles or watery blisters
  • There is suppuration which eventually form scabs
  • Two or three types of lesions may present simultaneously
  • The border is always indistinct
  • They are intensely itchy
  • Acute lesions are often confused with contact dermatitis
