NAME: HUANGSHU

English: Vital's Shu
Also Known As: Vital's Hollow
Vital's Transporting Point

LOCATION:

  • 0.5 cun lateral to the navel.
  • 0.5 cun lateral to the center of the umbilicus, level with REN-8 Shenque.

NEEDLING:

  • Straight insertion 1 to 1.5 cun.
    Caution: deep needling may penetrate the peritoneal cavity.
  • Puncture perpendicularly 0.5 to 1 cun.
  • Moxibustion is applicable.

COMMAND FUNCTIONS:

  • Point of the Chong channel

ACTIONS:

  • Removes obstructions from the channel
  • Tonifies the Kidneys
  • Benefits the Heart
  • Regulates Qi
  • Alleviates pain
  • Regulates and warms the Intestines

NOTES:

  • This point is related to Gaohuang, the space between the Heart and diaphragm.
  • It can be used to tonify the Kidneys and Heart and calm the Mind.
  • It is used for Kidney Yin Deficiency unable to nourish the Heart.
