Hoarseness due to either Lung Heat or impairment of the proper dissemination of Lung Qi and injury to the Fluids

Mild constipation due to Heat clumping in the Intestines. For serious cases add downward-draining herbs

 

  1. Some sources say that this herb eliminates Heat and toxin, moistens the Lung and clears the throat to treat toothache, dry cough with no sputum, throat inflammation with hoarseness, tonsillitis and constipation.
  2. This herb excels at disseminating Lung Qi while simultaneously in blocking and draining the Intestines.
  3. Both Pang Da Hai and Rx. Platycodi Jie Geng disseminate Lung Qi, cool the Lungs, resolve toxicity and benefit the throat. Jie Geng is more intense. It raises Lung Qi, releases the Exterior, benefits the throat by eliminating Phlegm and pus and directs the actions of the other herbs to the Upper Jiao. It also treats dysenteric disorder and abdominal pain. Pang Da Hai is cooling, moistening, drains constrained Fire and is used specifically used for throat disorders. it also moistens the Intestines and treats mild cases of constipation and blood in the stool.
  4. Both Pang Da Hai and Fr. Momordicae Luo Han Guo cool Lung Heat, lubricate the Intestines, are gentle and are often used as stand-alone herbs for sore throats and coughs. Pang Da Hai disseminates and disperses and excels at opening and spreading the Lung Qi and cooling and draining Fire from constraint. It is primarily indicated for hoarseness, loss of voice, sore throat and Phlegm-Heat cough due to blocked Lung Qi from constraint. Luo Han Guo moistens and cools to threat Phlegm-Fire cough and constipation. It is stronger at moistening Intestines than Pang Da Hai.
  5. Pang Da Hai and Sm. Oroxyli Mu Hu Die are two of the best herbs to restore loss of voice. They can be taken as tea throughout the day for those who need to speak or sing for a prolonged period of time.
