CONTRAINDICATIONS
  • Contraindicated for those with continuous bleeding.
  • Contraindicated during pregnancy.
  • Contraindicated for those with Liver Stagnation due to Liver Blood Deficiency.
  • If over 20-30g are ingested toxic reactions may appear.

  1. This herb is derived from the same plant as Hb. Leonuri Yi Mu Cao.
  2. One source says it is astringent and a tonic and is used for menorrhagia and continuous hemorrhage (see contraindications).
  3. It enhances vision, the mind, gene-rate sperm and virility.
  4. Both Chong Wei Zi and Hb. Leonuri Yi Mu Cao Invigorate the Blood and regulate menstruation. Chong Wei Zi also cools the Liver and brightens the eyes to treat redness and swelling of the eyes or superficial visual obstruction due to Liver Heat.
  5. The Dry-Fried Fr. Leonuri seeds Chao Chong Wei Zi are Warm rather than Slightly Cold and has increased friability which facilitates decoction. They are better for invigorating Blood and promoting menstruation.
