Halloysitum Rubrum Calcined with Vinegar Duan Cu Chi Shi Zhi 120g Astringes the Intestines,stops diarrhea, contains the Blood and stops bleeding.
With Lu Lu Liang, for incessant uterine bleeding without clotting and chronic diarrhea, dysenteric disorders or incontinence with Large Intestine Qi Deficiency.
Limonitum Calcined with Vinegar Duan Cu Yu Yu Liang 120g Astringes the Intestines, stops diarrhea, restrains leakage of Body Fluids and inhibits and stops bleeding.
Fluoritum Calcined with Vinegar Duan Cu Zi Shi Ying 120g Sedates the Heart, settles tremors and palpitations, Warms the Womb and warms and unblocks the Chong and Ren channels.
With Yu Yu Liang and Chi Shi zhi, for uterine bleeding due to Cold in the Womb.
Haematitum Calcined with Vinegar Duan Cu Zhe Shi 120g Cools the Blood and stops bleeding.
With Yu Yu Liang, Chi Shi Zhi, and Zi Shi Ying, for continuous uterine bleeding of purple or dark blood due to Cold from Deficiency of the Chong and Ren channels.
Olibanum Ru Xiang 60g Invigorates the Blood and promotes the movement of Qi.
Myrrh Mo Yao 60g Invigorates the Blood, dispels Blood Stasis, alleviates pain and reduces swelling.
With Ru Xiang, for abdominal pain during menstruation and irregular menstruation.
Faeces Trogopterori Wu Ling Zhi 60g Invigorates the Blood, dispels Blood Stasis, alleviates pain, transforms Stasis and stops bleeding.
Cinnabaris Zhu Sha 30g Sedates the Heart and calms the Spirit. - No longer used.

SYNDROMES

  • Metrorrhagia due to Deficiency Cold of the Chong and Ren channels with Blood Stasis in the uterus
  • Uterine bleeding due to Deficiency of the Heart and Kidney

CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS

  • Continuous menstrual bleeding
  • The flow is either gushing or spotting
  • The Blood is purplish red or purplish black in color
  • Bleeding with or without clots
  • Abdominal pain which is worse with pressure
  • The pain is relieved by passing clots
  • Dizziness
  • Low back pain
  • Leukorrhea
  • Night sweats
  • Chronic diarrhea
  • T: Dark purplish
  • C: Normal
  • P: Deep, fine and wiry

CONTRAINDICATIONS AND HERB/DRUG INTERACTIONS

CONTRAINDICATIONS
  • Contraindicated for those with Deficiency Cold syndromes that do not have Blood Stasis.
  • Contraindicated for a pregnant woman with Dampness and Heat.
  • Zhu Sha is toxic and is rarely used. Substitutes are commonly used.
HERB/DRUG INTERACTIONS

NOTES

  • Men should take this formula with warm grain-based liquor, and women should take it with vinegar.
