POINT: ST-16 (STOMACH-16)

NAME: YINGCHUANG

English: Breast Window
Also Known As: Breast's Window

LOCATION:

  • On the chest, in the third intercostal space, 4 cun lateral to the midline, level with REN-18 Yutang, on the mammilary line.
    Note: In males, the nipple lies in the fourth intercostal space.

NEEDLING:

  • Transverse-oblique insertion laterally or medially along the intercostal space 0.5 to 0.8 cun.
  • Transverse insertion superiorly along the channel.
  • Caution: Deep or perpendicular insertion carries a substantial risk of puncturing the Lung.
  • Puncture obliquely 0.3 to 0.5 cun.
  • Moxibustion is applicable.

NOTES:

  • It is best to use on women in the sitting position.
  • It is used for people who lack sympathy.
