- It is used primarily in formulas for Damp-Heat affecting the Large Intestine and Gallbladder.
- It is cold and drying to clear Damp-Heat, but also astringent to stop diarrhea.
- It can treat Wind-Damp Heat Bi, superficial visual obstruction, lack of Jing in males, vaginal discharge in females and childhood convulsions.
- It can be used as an eye wash.
- Charred Fraxinus Qin Pi Tan is less cold and more easily enters the Blood to stop bleeding and alleviate dysenteric disorders. It is often used for passage of mucus, pus and Blood in the stool in dysenteric disorders. It can also be used for Intestinal Wind and irregular uterine bleeding.
